We are pleased to announce that Open Access India has joined our new partner.

The ‘Open Access India‘ is a advocacy group formed in India for advocating open access to publicly funded research in India. This group while sharing success stories of open access movement in the world and India would be working for influencing the policy makers, managers, researchers, scholarly societies to adopt open access policy for their research and to take forward the open access movement in India.

Sridhar Gutam, Senior Scientist of Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, is managing Open Access India. He created the big Open Access community on the Facebook page. This group has about 2,000 people, and provides many news regarding Open Access every day.

Members of Open Access India are starting to sign up and post.

This image is in the public domain because its copyright has expired.

Standing on the shoulders of giants, the credo Isaac Newton quoted in the 17th century, has been refered by a number of scientists in the 21st century. The essential credo urged scientists to do their efforts, which urged internet to develop Web services around the world…

Letterpress printing, which has been said that Gutenberg invented in 1445, marked ‘paper’ revolution among scientists. The scientists embraced mutual reference of paper, which formed journals of sciences. Sciences have gone through the rapid progress in this era. Recently internet urged scientists mutual reference of ‘data’, which formed the credo Open Access (Budapest Open Access Initiative(BOAI), 2002). Also, the online copyright-licenses known as Creative Commons embracement helped scientists communicate a lot of science information for ‘free, available within flexible copyrights and licences.’ The two roadmaps BOAI defined initiated rapid progress of open access journals and institution repositories. As for open access embracement, the credo ‘Standing on the shoulders of giants’ and efforts of scientists community were huge commitment.

Also notable is social media evolution. The informal science information transaction and science communication, for example Mendeley and MyOpenArchive, renewed the conventional recognition among scientists. The next generation of academic services made easy to publish and to share research papers. The science communication development is successful.

Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is a conventional conference of science communication. From 1951, the real society of prominent scientists and new generation of superior researchers and pupils share the resort in Lindau island, Lake Borden (Lake Constance in English). The discussion among scientists debate the risk and benefit of science, and reality of scientific truth.

There we see the giants of Lindau, and over their shoulders we see young researchers pursue their science carrier. We look forward to join the real communication of their researches, and social transaction of their papers.

This year we hope the class of Lindau develop a next step of science.

What is the role of social interactions within repository technical communities in developing strong, distributed services and cyberinfrastructure to create open access to and preservation of our shared digital heritage? The Sixth Annual International Conference on Open Repositories (OR11) will address that question in Austin, Texas — often billed as “The Live Music Capital of the World” — from June 7-11, 2011, at the AT&T Conference Center. This popular conference will be hosted by the University of Texas and will feature general conference and user group sessions as well as workshops, poster sessions, minute madness and new kinds of sessions designed to bring everyone into this lively exchange of ideas.

MyOpenArchive, founded in September 2007, is an international Non-Profit Organization that advocates Open Access for never-before-published research papers on the web and provides Self-Archiving platform to enable better knowledge sharing in a way that’s easy to publish.

We launched our new website in order to promote “Self-Archiving”.
http://MyOpenArchive.org/
This is not Institutional Repository (IR), but we are calling “Individual Repository (iR)”.

This Open Access Repository are collecting all types of papers, like conference abstracts and presentations – the so-called “gray literature”.
If you have such a paper and would like to add a Creative Commons license to your work, or if your working organization has no Institutional Repository (IR), Open your archives and we’re here to spread them to the world.
We hope all types of papers be shared with everyone.

We believe that Open Access to the scholarly information makes the better world for everyone.
One of our goals is to advocate “Open Access” mind as widely as possible.
